Hi Liz, Yeah you do seem to have some very strong feelings about this. It's tough for me to add to what Alex and Penni have said but I do believe I have a different perspective. Read my post again, I never said anything about Christianity, I just said Religion has done many more wonderful things than negative things. To say differently to me defies logic and reason! You point out some religious atrocities over the millenia, they were certainly horrible, I agree. But to focus only on the negative things that religion has brought is to me like saying. "The world would have been better without America" because we have had things like slavery and and forced incarcirations. Because people of a particular religion act wrong doesn't mean you should condem all the people and that religion. I wonder what your reaction would have been if Shalom had said. Go with the warmth and spirit of the Sun? Couldn't that be considered a religion? Reading your post slowly you remind me of some of my neihbors. This will require a true story. Because I have been fortunate in markets over many years, we live in a very upscale neihborhood. Full of people who are very well educated. Doctors, Lawyers, Bank Presidents and such. 2 years ago a new family moved in. They have 6 children. In today's society that is considered rather unusual. Naturally people started asking questions...Shortly thereafter we discovered that they are Mormons. Before this time I had never met a Mormon. They take the practice of their faith very seriously. Do you know Liz, that with the exception of our family NOONE with speak with or socialize with this family!! How is this different from the way many African Americans were treated in the 60's. Educated my foot!! Tolerant Yeah right! Those are just neat catch words to justify a closed mind! I suggest you simply judge people by who they are and not by your preconcieved notion is of who they should be. I have come to know these people rather well. To say I have been impressed by their character would be an understatemet. Their beautiful bright and enquisitive children are routinely ignored by other children and parents at the local buss stop. Why??? Fear miss Liz, Fear and ignorance. Somebody say's go with God and you fear it. Why? Regards, Michael
