the volume and drop in price at end of day suggests West Coast selling by a large shareholder or fund. i say west coast because the selling is late in the day. if the selling is by insiders (i dont think it is) they would be better off selling the company. berkshire hathaway owns 3 shoe companies and vans meets most of the acquisition criteria with the exception of pre-tax earnings criteria of at least $25M (warren prefers large companies).

another possible explanation is the upcoming Q may be their worst -they have already stated that the second half of year (ending May) will be relatively flat compared with last year and the quarter that just ended will be the worse. its possible that after the news is released the stock will begin recovering assuming its still an independent company.
