Paul, all -

I just listened to the conference call and thought the most useful (and encouraging) part was Dr. Schmidt's response in the Q&A section where he gave his thoughts on some of the challenges ahead. He recognizes that the biggest issue today is that Novell Sales and Marketing still hasn't learned how to properly articulate the benefits of what they actually offer. He admitted that their core constituency of geeks [his word] understands the power of directories and what Novell is doing in the market, but that Novell hasn't learned how to describe these benefits to "normal people". I find it encouraging that he understands this as I also believe it's their biggest challenge. A problem understood is a problem that can be solved. Eric restated the need to continue focusing his sales and marketing people on learning how to get these benefits articulated to the market, and mentioned that he believes Novell's partners will also be able to help in this regard as they sell Novell products into their own client bases.
