Our Lizzie loves to play catch. My mother has given her an assortment of stuffed animal toys that she carries around in her mouth and chaws on. When my shoulder is up to it, we go out in the back yard and I throw one of her toys, or maybe a ball, down the hill, and she races after it, catches it and brings it back. Not remarkable except for the fact that the yard hasn't been raked since last spring, and is thick with a covering of oak leaves. She always finds the toy, and brings it back, even if she has to dig in the leaves for it. Even if she loses it, it only takes her an instant to find it. She is a smart girl. What I like best about her, however, is the way she acts like she wants to eat strangers who come to the door. Guess I should make sure the homeowner's insurance covers dog bites, now that I think about it. |
