Maryland (OTC Bulletin Board: FIXN), a manufacturer and distributor of celebrity food products, announced today the signing of its newest partner, Cal Ripken, Jr.Together, they will develop a food line.
Cal Ripken, Jr. is the third baseman for the Baltimore Orioles and
baseball's "Iron Man." On September 6, 1995, Cal broke the record for most consecutive games played in Major League Baseball history, surpassing Lou Gehrig's long standing record of 2,130 games played. Last season, Cal etched his name in history when he established the new record of 2,632 games after taking himself out of the lineup on September 20, 1998.
Jason Bauer, President of Famous Fixins announced today the development of a new cereal in a limited-edition box commemorating Cal's record. Bauer stated, "This special edition, limited to the 1999 baseball season will be launched on April 1, five days before opening day and will be on the shelves only until the end of the 1999 season.
