Yes and Yes. And it's done. So the infrastructure is there. So I don't understand why we can't just let run it's own course now. I believe (and this is where I'm technically inept)just putting some DSLAM's in their COs would give them xDSL bandwidth fairly easily. So if you deregulate it, wouldn't the LECs love to get $40/month from those consumers? Or if that wouldn't work out, wouldn't the LMDS players love to get $40/month from them?
As far as, "lifeline" services, don't you think if I'm able to choose from my MSO, *LEC, Wireless Celluar, and eventually VoIP services which may include ISPs, LMDS, and even power companies, I would be able to be assured that I would be able to get, "lifeline," services? I'm sure that would make a good ad for anyone of those MULTITUDE of potential communication service providers.
So I'm confused about your two issues also. Again it seems to me it's pretty simple to leave that up to market forces and it will quickly work itself out. Again, only IMHO and a fairly naive one at that (relative to others on this thread).
