<-OT-->Merrill to Face Claims by 900 Women, New York Times Reports

May be Merrill Lynch should fix this little problem before issuing worthless speculation under the guise of 'research' or 'expert' opinion.
==============================

New York, Feb. 26 (Bloomberg) -- About 900 women are planning to file sex-discrimination claims against Merrill Lynch & Co., the largest U.S. brokerage firm, the New York Times reported, citing lawyers for the plaintiffs. About 2,900 current and former women brokers have until Tuesday to request inclusion in a class-action settlement of a case brought by one current and seven former brokers. Merrill Lynch said it's committed to investigating every claim and that it would take action if it found any ''instances of inappropriate behavior,'' the paper said.

Last May, Merrill Lynch agreed to pay a total $600,000 to the eight women named as plaintiffs in the suit and end a requirement that discrimination claims be settled through industry-sponsored arbitration. (NYT 2/26 www.nytimes.com) *--All newspaper citations refer to the New York Times
