Mr. Murphy and his group of analysts have a hard time seeing the forest for the trees. They also tend to believe management's claims without requiring them to show results. They bought into Perham's statements about Fusions memory, MIPs processors, WinChip, and the great thing it was to invest in an expensive new facility right at the time that the market was collapsing and the world was glutted with brand new excess capacity - that they could have contracted for as needed or latter bought for much less than they paid. Murphy is too much IN LOVE with technology for technology's sake to be a good investment advisor, IMO. He is able to explain in great detail how neat this new widgett or that new process is and how it will certainly lead to wonderful new business opportunities - technology for the sake of technology. Even great technology is a bust when it isn't targeted correctly at the windows of opportunity and backed up with complete marketing programs.
