The size of the best bid and best ask relate to how many shares the MM who is on the bb or ba is showing they are willing to buy or sell at that price. Make sure not to get the term "people" mixed up with the "MMs"...there's a big difference. A large bid size indicates that MM's are willing to buy a lot of shares at that price. They may think the stock is going to go up and want to load up to sell higher later.
