Pioneer may make TV boxes in America By Reuters Special to CNET News.com February 26, 1999, 5:20 a.m. PT Major Japanese audio and video equipment manufacturer Pioneer Electronic said today it may produce TV set-top boxes in North America if there is enough demand. "We will consider production of STBs in North America if demand in the United States keeps rising," Pioneer managing director Takashi Kobayashi told Reuters in a recent interview. Pioneer now produces its U.S.-bound STBs, which are devices for satellite and cable TV, in Japan. European demand for STBs is also good, he said. [snip] Continued... news.com
