The network appliance concept is based on the idea of laymen having
access to all of the Internet's resources without having to pay
>$2000 every 3 years for the latest Wintel PC and without having to
pay/know anything about software or hardware. When you look at the
total cost of ownership of the Internet appliance against the so-called
HomePC the argument becomes even more compelling.

I have used both PCs and SUN workstations over the last 8 years and
I can tell you that the PC still has a lot of ground to cover in terms
of reliability and robustness in a networked multi-tasking environment.

BTW Netscape has about 90% of the browser mind-share and SUN has
about 1/3 of the interenet server market toguether the make a very
strong team to dominate the internet market in years to come.

P.S. No, I don't work for either company ;->.
