17 is very attractive offer counting semi stocks down sharply now. I don't believe the sweeter deal will come. The CEOs met each other yesterday. VLSI is quiet and do not say no. If no white knight comes, the deal will go through. So it is a arbitrary bid to pick up 1 point started at low 15. Usually, the price of difference should be narrow to around 3/4 to 1/2 point when there is a cash deal agreed by both side. PHG is a lot bigger company than LSI. It is better off to be taken over. I hope they should not turn it down this time. If the older shareholder is still losing money, why not pick your proceed and reinvest in PHG? If the deal is dead, we can get burn. But I see the risk is not too high.
