You don't HAVE to hold....as the price up (which is the rationale for buyng stock - isn't it ?) the price for the puts goes down too.....and when you buy them back, you keep the profits. The time value works for you rather than aganst you....and you are paid, rather than paying...! But of course I'm sure you have taken all that into consideration.... Whatever works... :-)
