You don't HAVE to hold....as the price up (which is the rationale for buyng stock - isn't
it ?) the price for the puts goes down too.....and when you buy them back, you keep the
profits. The time value works for you rather than aganst you....and you are paid, rather
than paying...!

But of course I'm sure you have taken all that into consideration....

I have taken this into account. The problem is the only discount broker I have is DLJdirect at present. They do not permit the writing of naked puts. I need another broker for that. I had a disagreement with my fullservice broker a few months ago and closed that account so naked puts were not possible today. I do not have enought equity for two accounts anyhow now to make it worth while and a transfer not being the cash type is out of the question. ACAT is what I was referring to.
