Let me disagree with one of your statements somewhat, Marcus. You wrote:

"As far as the negative posts. YOU ARE HURTING THE COMPANY THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO PROFIT FROM. Not smart unless you have a personal vendetta. Interested parties who tune in to the SI board might decide not to invest after reading some of the discontent posted. Remember constructive criticism."

My view is that, first and foremost, postings should be objective. I use message boards as much to search out new investments as to track existing ones. I far prefer those which give a feeling of honest dialogue over those that look like eternal pep rallies. When someone posts that "you'll never see a chance to buy this stock at 50 cents again", I get a feeling I'm being used to gratify some sleezeball's wallet.

Negative postings don't help a company's stock. But they do help the investor - either to not put money in for future loss, or to not overstay one's presence in that stock. This is a service to the investing community.

Still, we've all seen postings from those who are shorting a stock and trying desperate scare tactics to drive down the price. These are despicable. But how are they worse than those which tell you "XXX is coming out with huge news Monday. Buy now before the news hits. Sorry I can't release any more information."?

The key is to be objective. We are NOT here to be a cheer-leading section for ETPI. We are here to intelligently discuss with each other the pros and cons of investing in ETPI. At some future time, ETPI may be a company on the downside. Negative information has its proper place on a message board. If it drives investors away, they may be avoiding an 80% loss further down the road. That's how it should be.

Negative postings can be intentionally misleading. Or they can contain significant information. We, as investors, need to be able to distinguish these and act appropriately. That's sometimes a difficult burden. That's why we rely on other posters whom we trust to help us sort them out. But the real key to using message boards is to maintain an objectivity, not to be an eternal cheerleader.
