According to market research firm PC Data, the AMD-K6 chip outsold Intel's (INTC 119 5/8 -8 1/8) processors in the U.S. retail market in January. AMD's K6 accounted for 43.9% of all desktop PC processor unit sales in January, while Intel had 40.3% of the market. AMD was able to knock Intel out of the top-spot for the first time as a result of robust sales in the sub-$1000 category.
