Hey Steve,

I am a VERY novice paddler. I used a Selyvor rubber kayak
for 2 days last November in Key Largo, Florida in the ocean
to paddle and fish. It was great fun but it didn't track
very well. I would be paddling along and suddenly would do
an instant uturn. I paddled 5 miles like that one day and
had so much fun that my wife and I decided to take it back
and get a real kayak. Then when it came down to plunking
down $1000 bucks for the plastic Old Town we decided on,
I chickened out since it was unplanned and we were on vacation.

Anyway I started investigating on the Net and learned about
folders and I bought Ralph Diaz's book, "The Complete
Folding Kayak". I wanted to go out to Sacremento, Calif.
to the Western Folding Kayak Center to look at them, but
I couldn't get the time off work.

Peter, the owner, keeps Folbot, Feathercraft, Klepper,
Nautraid, and Pouch in stock for sale and comparison.

I think he just left for a month on a Mexico vacation.

So after reading what I could and comparing that way
and since my wife isn't very adventurous the way I am
and knowing that she wouldn't go for learning to Eskimo
roll, I ordered a STABLE Klepper Quattro double and it
arrived Wednesday. It is a lot of money but I think we
will enjoy it.
It assembles easily but it's very heavy.
I work second shift so I'd like to take it out tomorrow
but it is supposed to rain so I'll probably wait until
Monday when it is supposed to be 40 degrees and sunny. :)

I plan to use it in the lakes and streams here in
Ohio a lot and in Lake Erie 4 or 5 times a year.
Once a year we go to Florida and I can use it all week
to fish the mangroves, to paddle to the reefs and snorkle
when we get more experience and to explore the Everglades.

I can't wait to sit in it on the water. The living room
floor isn't really doing it for me.

Bob
