David, I was just kidding about the rope. I might have gotten a bit rowdy but I doubt any real harm would have been done. Cept me getting arrested that is.
Given the opportunity, I would have gotten in someone's face about the way some things were being handled.
My feeling is that JT lost sight of his original business plan and tried to make a killing on the stock.
400 plus million doesn't impress me if I takes 400 plus plus million to get there. Consider this. Were all of the companies that have been acquired by ABTX losing money before being acquired? Were they making money? If the former, I'd think that fact would have been addressed at the time of purchase. If the later, then I'd expect at least some profit from the combined.
Look at it this way. We are all partners in this enterprise (cept maybe that Drake fellow). If everything is going well we can pat each other on the back and smile. If things are not going well, we need to get in each others face and pound on some desks.
If you ever get by one of the Evelyn Crabtree outlets take a moment or two and speak with the manager about how their computer system works. Every night the entire days activity is uploaded to a central office. The information enables the company to maintain inventory, plan product purchases and shipments, provide accurate accounting, etc. This may be old hat but it works well. And I would be willing to bet it saves the company a ton of dough.
Such a system could be used for ABTX products and accounting. I would think R&R would find benefit also. I don't suggest this is the end all solution to ABTX problems. I question if it has been considered at all. If all of these acquisitions are to survive they need more then bringing together, they need working together.
Of all the acquisitions this company has made, The last may prove to be the best. If the non-reproducing science can be developed for other seed species then that would be of great value considering Monsanto's problem with farmers saving seed for next years crop.
If you want this hand to get excited about a merger, don't write about ABTX being purchased by Monsanto. Tell me ABTX is buying Monsanto.
cheers, bd
