Ramsey,

There are already signs that China is playing the CDMA card, perhaps even more so given the recent rejection of the $400M satellite launch contract. There was a kite-flying article in the WSJ a few days ago about the Chinese government postponing CDMA and concentrating on GSM in the short term.

Your comment on the availability of a full array of alternative technology available from Europe rings particularly true.

The divergence of views within the G& is yet another sign that given the rough waters ahead, it will be every man [bloc] for himself.

I sense the posturing will get even more aggressive on both sides in the coming months. Given the loss of markets for US technology exports elsewhere in Asia and Latam, China will play this card for all its worth, and more.

Best,
Steve
