The lunatics who get involved in S&Ps actually had the S&P futures to the plus side by about half a percent with about 10 minutes to go, even though the tech stocks, which basically have been the entire stock market, were going out on their lows. I don't know if that was somebody trying to paint the tape for the month or not, but it seems absolutely staggering that anyone would want to run in and buy S&P futures late on a Friday afternoon given the rout that went on in technology.

It will be interesting if this rout has any affect on light bulbs turning on across portfolio managers' brains, although from past experience I don't have high hopes about them connecting the dots too quickly.
