I'm surprised this bit of "news" had such an impact on the current stock price and would consider unloading now while the getting is good. This news is about a year old and comes from Electrotech technology, the company recently acquired by PMAT. None of the technologists in the business ever really bought it when Electrotech released it to begin with, but the press release and analysts comments were a nicely done bit of PR.

Let's face it, PMAT won't be able to compete with the giants in CVD or in any other wafer processing segment. They don't have the critical mass, customer base, financial strength or world-wide support network that the big chipmakers now insist on.

They have not proven much with respect to their plasma source technology either. Their JV with WJ to develop high-density sources failed, and they can't seem to make up their mind on whether they are a system or OEM company.

I think the best that can happen to this group is that they will be acquired at a reasonable premium. Lam should be interested as their CVD program has gone nowhere in 3 years. If they (or other wafer processing SCEM's are not), I'd question the viability of this "breakthrough".
