JamesT - Firstly, welcome to the thread, glad to have you aboard and out of the closet. :)

Poet makes a good point, there are many different interpretations of the different levels of trades.

I pretty much agree with Poet except I see intermediate as 1 month to 6 months. Often times I also see position trades as open ended on the back side. I usually use 2 weeks as the backend with the possibility of an extension of another 2 weeks to take it up to a month. Anything over a month qualifies as an intermediate hold, or to put it another way, a position trade gone bad.

So:

Day Intraday Only!
Position: 1 day - 2 weeks
Ext. Position 2 - 4 weeks
Intermediate 1 - 6 months
Long 6+ months
