This is certainly true of a certain percentage of people. Some people will always buy based primarily on price. Some will also assume that the OEM name validates the CPU. The question is, how much longer do you think AMD can afford to price 25% below Intel. Intel has vowed to take the price actions necessary to regain share at the low end. All else equal, do you think a customer looking at two Compaq's will favor the one with Intel Inside.....I do.

Of course, this discussion only applies to the retail market which is a small percentage of the overall PC opportunity.

In the corporate world there are other considerations. You can rest assured that "Intel Inside" carries significantly more weight in I/T departments.
