Dan, Thanks for your suggestions and info on preferred stocks. Since posting info on this issue I had decided not to buy this convert or even the common in BBY. After thinking how this company has expanded its stores and how bad they have done selling consumer goods in relatively good times, one wonders what will happend to BBY if we get a down turn in the ecomony.

I live just north of the Baltimore area in Bel Air Maryland. A Best Buy opened up last year and it is a very nice store with a great selection in computer hardware and software. In fact the best selection in the area. But this store was built by demolishing a fairly large strip mall which contained a large super market, a Sears catalog store, a resturant, pizza, dry cleaning store plus a couple smaller stores. They tore the whole thing down to build a Best Buy and a Pet Smart. On the west side of Baltimore the demolished a multi story Ramada Inn to build a Best Buy. Not exactly the cheapest way to build and expand stores. Now one can say that Best Buy does not own these stores but I think that their leases have to be higher since this is a costly way to do business. They have too much debt and have done poorly during good times. It is time to avoid this and accumulate cash to invest in blue chips after the correction.
