I'm new here, but got here because Geron was mentioned in Reversing Human Aging by Michael Fossel, PhD, MD (Morrow) (1996). Maybe you've already discussed this but I was fascinated by the book and the research on telomeres. He says: In 1994, the first example of telomerase inhibitors was isolated ...at Geron Corp in Ca. The initial results show that "antisense RNA" is effective against ovarian cancer cells in vitro and has no effect on normal fibroblast cells. Further work is already in progresss, both on other types of cells in vitro and on animals with cancer."

Seems to me a lot must have happenned since then. Can anyone tell me where Geron currently stands in research/clinical trials? I've called company for info - this book was really an eye-opener for me - Fossel implies that we are quite close to the use of telomerase inhibitors for cancer, with inducers (for skin youthing, etc) a few years later.

He does say that he is going further than most in extrapolating information from current research, but obviously he has a certain amt of faith in the future of telomere biotechnology. He got me believing!

His PhD is in neurobiology from Stanford and his M.D. is also from Stanford. He is a clinical professor of medicine at Michigan State and the recepient of a National Science Foundation Fellowship.

Hope you haven't talked about this book already, but doubt I'm the first to look into Geron because of it.

Ann
