Gateway Enhances Client
Choices With New Desktop Product Lines

Feb. 26, 1999--(BUSINESS WIRE)
Gateway (NYSE: GTW) today introduced three new consumer desktop
product lines targeted at specific segments of the PC market, offering
expanded client choice and personalization. Gateway Performance, Gateway
Essential, and Gateway Select desktops will replace the award-winning
G-Series desktop product line and are available immediately in the U.S.
"Since Gateway speaks directly with our clients thousands of times each
day, we have an unparalleled understanding of their needs," said Bart Brown,
vice president, Gateway Home. "Through this interactive channel of
communication, we have developed the Gateway Performance, Gateway
Essential, and Gateway Select lines to provide our clients with the
personalization features they want. These new lines go beyond hardware
choices as well. We have multiple offerings for service and support
packages1, gateway.net(SM) Internet access and software packages to
round out complete personalized technology solutions for virtually every
client."

Gateway Essential

The Gateway(TM) Essential line of desktop PCs is designed to meet the
individual needs of the client looking for a full-featured multimedia system
with traditional Gateway value, while maximizing those features that are the
most important to the client's needs: processor speed, RAM amount, and
hard drive size. It includes the Gateway(TM) Essential 400c, including an
Intel(R) Celeron(TM) 400MHz processor, 64MB SDRAM, 8.4GB UATA
hard drive, integrated audio and 8MB video, EV700 17" (15.9" viewable)
monitor, 13x/32x CD-ROM drive, 2-piece speaker system, data/fax
modem, Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 and Corel Word Perfect(R) Suite 8,
and one year2 of Internet access through gateway.net for $1299.

Gateway Select

Designed to provide clients with alternatives and the power of choice,
Gateway(TM) Select systems offer a perfect balance of feature set and price.
This product line includes the Gateway(TM) Select 366, which features an
AMDTM K6-2 366MHz processor, 32MB SDRAM, 4.3 GB UATA hard
drive, integrated audio and 8MB video, EV500 15" (13.9" viewable)
monitor, 13x/32x CD-ROM drive, 2-piece speaker system, data/fax
modem, Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 and Corel Word Perfect(R) Suite 8
for $899.

"The PC market has become highly differentiated between consumers,
traditional PC users, power users, and those looking for value," said Aaron
Goldberg, executive vice president, ZD Market Intelligence. "It's critical that
PC vendors directly address this with their product lines. I believe that this
new line-up responds directly to this need among the customer base."
