Intraware Rises Modestly in IPO
Wired News Report

4:45 p.m. 26.Feb.99.PST
Shares of Intraware, a company that sells
business software to large companies over the
Internet, shot up 18 percent on the first day of
trading Friday.

Intraware (ITRA) priced its 4 million share
offering at US$16 a share, a little higher than the
$14 to $15 range it had estimated. Right after
the Nasdaq market opened, the stock started
trading at $20.38.

But Intraware shares, which closed up $2.88 at
$18.88, didn't have the sky-high increases other
Net-related stocks have shown in recent weeks.

"There's plenty of competition in that space,"
said Steven Tuen, director of research at IPO
Value Monitor, citing software companies like
Digital River and Beyond.com.

Intraware had revenue of $24.5 million in the first
nine months of 1998, up from $5.3 million during
the same period in 1997. But losses also grew.
The company reported a loss of $8.4 million in
the first nine months of 1998, up from $2.7
million in the same period a year before.
