Buenos dias....

I've a terribly poor comprehension of the particular characteristics of satelite communications but the speed with which direct TV is deploying is very very impressive. Also driving wireless is the fact that in the third world, where the growth is, its a cheaper infrastructure to build than routing wire through crowded cities. Still, it ain't cheap yet. The uniform complaint I ran into in China, Thailand, Hong Kong, etc., and in Latin America was the relative expense of it currently.

A world wide satelite phone system would raise some interesting political issues. Who, pray tell, would be sovereign over the satelites? (Just a rhetorical question for thought).

Best Regards....Tom
