Sudan/Petroleum. Khartoum, Feb 25 (SUNA) -- Energy and Mining Minister Dr Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz affirmed that preliminary surveys and studies proved existence of ample quantities of oil reserves in the various areas of the country. He said that the stage to see realization of self-sufficiency in oil products with a surplus for export is but a yield of one out of four oil fields. The minister pointed out, during a meeting here Thursday with the visiting delegation of the Italian-Arab Chamber of Commerce, that the rich resources of Sudan and its strategic location, as well as laws encouraging investment, are the most attracting factors for investment in Sudan. He reaffirmed that the Sudan doors are wide open for investments in the fields of energy and mining, indicating the significance of hydro-electricity.
