Good questions. Yes, IronBridge is an affiliate. newbridge.com
As you can see, two members of NN's executive council serve as IronBridge advisors.
It's also listed under TM's Celtic House, International: newbridge.com strategy: prodweb.newbridge.com
I was also concerned about responding to RFPs as an affiliate and I'm quite sure it's possible. Perhaps b/c of NN's equity position, perhaps for other reasons, I honestly don't know. When asked about acquisitions, Alan told the RS audience they would fill out IP needs (large routers, access vehicles) and advance ATM in the voice space (including SS7). He indicated some of the acquisitions would involve affiliates. I've never been told IronBridge is among them, but it seems like a logical assumption.
As for the high-speed router/switch space, it became very clear at the conference that no one is a clear leader at this point in time. Yes, Juniper Networks is shipping its M40 product, but the company is supported by a long list of equity investors and it's not at all certain (at least to me) whether they'll go public or be taken out, and if the latter, by whom.
Juniper's partners: juniper.net Product announcement: juniper.net
Incidentally, I believe the OC-48 wire-speed router/switch is NN's, not IronBridge's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
