Yes Compaq is the leader in monitor sales both in volume and units, but it is not as profitable as the mainline PC business as there is intense competition from Sony, CTX, and others. Compaq also pushes the edge in monitor technology as shown by the new flat panels. I have heard that they have additional 'breakthrough' monitor technology which may become product in 1999 but don't know any details, except that it is not CRT or traditional LCD monitor technology.
