here's what i'm saying, richard... the ms service pack upgrade site says "After installing the update, your system properties will report version 4.00.950a." does that mean that anyone with version A is good to go? doesn't need the upgrade? you see, i'm confused by your statement that if you have B you don't need the upgrade, when after installing, your system reports that you now have A? why doesn't it say you now have B? thanks for the explanations, mark
