Conference, buzz put Linux in the spotlight
sjmercury.com
Linux boosters are hoping that they'll be able to celebrate even better progress a year from now. In what may be a case of irrational optimism,Linux advocates and at least one big company, Ottawa-based Corel Corp.,are working on several projects to make Linux so easy to install and use that it can be a genuine alternative to Windows.

More interesting yet is Corel's work on an improved Linux "user interface'' -- the screen users see and interact with then they run a computer. This is based on an open-source project called KDE, which has already won raves for its elegant appearance.

When I first read this link this morning they had Montreal-based Corel but now they have changed it :-)
I have used KDE and it sure looks like it could kick some winblows butt but lacks applications that could compete head to head with windows and it needs some kind of installion wizard to make it easier to install. The RPM stuff is a pain in the butt.
