I have an account with Priority / now Schwab Canada. They are excellent.

- service top notch, usually I deal with the same representative if I do require assistance
- trade execution is a-ok
- they are not the cheapest on a commission basis. Average cost for me is around 40$. Minimum cost is 30$, scales by volume and share cost

They have some minimum account sizes (or had under Priority), perhaps that will change with Schwab influence.

I was with them before the Schwab deal and its not clear how that will affect service. Priority had a lot of Paul Bates' personalilty wrapped up into it, so as long as he remains there I'm sure things will continue to be excellent. I would supect with size and backing there will be some positives; hopefully they'll minimize the negatives.

My personal experience is the slightly higher commission per trade is cheap when compared to the poor executions and slippage experienced when I had my account with Action Direct. I still have a couple positions sitting in my Action Direct account and many months since moving my trading to Priority I still can't believe how bad and how slow Action is.

Just my two cents...
Michael
