John, the only thing I am willing to venture at this stage is that DELL's Q4 included January. Whereas, this was not the case for Compaq. Consequently, DELL's Q1 may actually be fairly good because they've already taken their lumps [in January].

In my opinion Compaq may not want a reoccurrence of last year's inventory stuffing fiasco and may be reducing their channel inventory in the January period to offset the stuffing in Q4. This would definitely hurt their Q1 results.

I hope DELL management provides us with some feedback concerning Q1. But, I don't expect any opinions to be expressed before the end of March.

I'm sticking with my numbers until I hear something more definitive.

Regards, Gabriel
