Well Mike, I don't know what your experience is with Linux, but KDE brings a pretty look to Linux and a gui with Borg virus (NT) performance. If you look here home.earthlink.net

This page has an image map that points to 20, 1024x768 photoes of multidisplay computers

You will see a computers running 2, 3, and 4 FVWM window managers simotaneously. My four display system startx is 4 times faster than a single display system starting X with KDE. I could configure my FVWM to look like KDE. But why would I want an informationally deprived look in a desktop. The 3 display computer was running a SuSe distribution that came with default KDE. The first few times I started X, I thought my computer had crashed. It was my first impression of how slow KDE was in starting.

But setenv WINDOW_MANAGER fvwm cured KDE fatique.

How do you keep track of dozens of open programs and use less screen real estate than KDE.

WELL here is a Look.

This is a 1024x768 photo

Yes I can run four displays each with 12 virtual desktops. Two as it turns out is very productive. 3 and 4 display computers were created just to do it.

Notice the Number Nine Digital Flat Panel Solution Pack used to create these multi display computers, I have posted much on the Nine thread as to one beatiful investing solution.

The jpeg togetm.jpg home.earthlink.net
shows side by side a photo of and xterm with a 5x7 font. The SW1600 has a resolution of 1600x1024 and the Hitachi 21" monitor was operating at a resolution of 1600x1200. The 5x7 xterm on the Hitachi is a shade under 4" wide while the 5x7 xterm on the SW1600 is 3 7/8" This side by side comparison gives an idea of the incredable sharpness of the SW1600. There is a clear plastic scale shown in each photo to assist in gaging the screen shots.

As to my knowledge of linux.
