Talk of Motorolaupping NetSpeak stake - rpt

NEW YORK, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Communications and technology giant Motorola Inc.
may expand its 32 percent stake in software
module maker NetSpeak Corp. (Nasdaq:NSPK - news) or bid for the whole firm,
BusinessWeek magazine reported, quoting
investment experts.

Robert Goldman, of New York investment firm Josephthal, told the magazine's March 8
issue that he believed Motorola would have to eventually buy NetSpeak for its
Internet technology.

Goldman was quoted in the Inside Wall Street column as saying that Motorola made the
hardware and NetSpeak provided the software to deliver voice and data over
cable modems.

An unnamed California money manager told BusinessWeek that now was the time for
Motorola to make its move, citing NetSpeak's low stock price.

The company's stock on Thursday closed down $0.25 at $12.38, well off its year high
of
$33.13. The magazine said Motorola paid about $30 a share last year to boost
its stake from 15 percent to 32 percent.
