Perot Systems to Implement McKessonHBOC's AMISYS Open PR Newswire - February 23, 1999 08:44
DALLAS, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Perot Systems Corporation (NYSE: PER) announced today that it is expanding its use of McKessonHBOC's AMISYS(R) health insurance and managed care information system to include the system's new client/server version, AMISYS OPEN. AMISYS OPEN is a three-tier, client/server system that combines the proven, multi-option functionality of AMISYS with true distributed processing, as well as platform and database portability. Perot Systems' expert staff will use AMISYS OPEN to process claims, membership, benefits, billing, and other business transactions on behalf of payor- and provider-based managed care organizations.
Perot Systems has provided AMISYS timeshare services for more than five years to organizations that want to take advantage of the AMISYS system's processing power without the up-front capital investment in new technologies and corresponding staff resources. The timeshare option is particularly suited to the needs of integrated healthcare delivery organizations operating health plans.
"This agreement highlights the continued success of the flexible timeshare alternative we have built with the AMISYS system," said Randall Booth, director of Perot Systems Healthcare Group. "Using timeshare-based strategies to migrate from proprietary midrange system environments to a more open, client/server environment, allows more time and capital to be spent on establishing the proper systems infrastructure and hiring the personnel necessary to support a newer and more distributed environment."
"We are delighted with this opportunity to expand our productive relationship with Perot Systems," commented Lee Root, senior vice president and general manager of business solutions for McKessonHBOC's Payor Solutions Group. "Through this expanded partnership, provider-based organizations that have assumed financial risk for healthcare delivery can lower their administrative and medical costs, and enhance service quality, using the same powerful information technologies as large, traditional payor organizations."
