My individual interests: I am a MBT customer, and I find their devotion to customer service excellent, although it is better the higher you go in the chain of command.

I welcome a closer investigation by the SEC because they exist to protect MY MONEY. We all expect that the many thousands of $ we send to these brokers is safe and secure, and is properly accounted for. The rules are there to ensure the people responsible for guarding my money at the broker know their job. If the rules say someone needs to be registered at MBT, then they better get registered if they want to keep me as a customer.

I like their service. I want assurance my money is safe, and that the broker knows his job. No other axe to grind.
