Hi Wily,

A couple of quick ones for you:

Resellers who are Microsoft System Builders normally pick up OEM copies of OS's like NT/95/98 in bulk packs (3-5-10,etc.) As mentioned however, they can only be sold with new systems.

Businesses can get into site license agreements with Microsoft, so they don't have to purchase copy after copy of NT (for example). would be cheaper in the long run. The majority of schools have these agreements.

If the price is that low, for OEM software or packaged, don't be surprised if it is fake. I've have a fair bit of experience with that one. Either way, it's technically illegal for the seller, since they can't sell OEM software without a system. But hey, people on eBay do it all the time. :)

On a bright note, I agree with you that SP4 can sometimes get the system screwy. SP3 is the most reliable Service Pack so far. The really knowledgeable people on the Dream Machine thread might know otherwise though. <g>

Regards,

Richard
