I'll chime in a comment on this one. If the URL shortcut is starting Internet Explorer then that is what is set as default on your system. Go to My Computer-View-FolderOptions-FileTypes (slightly different if Win95) and look for Hypertext Document and change the default program to Netscape (running the Netscape install program again will also do that).

To "get" non-new messages I go to the point I want to start and open that message. Then click on "all remaining."
