Nothing new here. Mainstream organizations such as FEMA and the American Red Cross have been advocating this level of preparation all along. Stocking up on a few days worth of food and supplies is a far cry from hoarding gold and guns and building a bunker in the hills. The senators report may make the issue more visible to the public, though, which is a good thing. If people do their stocking up gradually over the next 10 months, there shouldn't be any panic or shortages. This issue is more mainstream than ever as of today, the denial may be over soon.
