NW, I did not know this:

I wish more of the elderly women I know would take an interest in "getting connected."

This is something I know absolutely nothing about, but I should think a group that would really benefit from internet access would be people (who are mentally sound) in retirement and nursing homes. From news segments I see on TV where dogs are taken into homes a few times a week, many of these people are very, very lonely. The ability to communicate with relatives [who often do not make or have the time to spend time visiting] and make new friends--of all ages--in cyberspace would really improve the quality of their lives.
