(NYSE: ALN - news) today announced an agreement to form a joint venture that will focus on selected business opportunities within the potentially multi-billion dollar market for location-based equipment and services.
The joint venture will offer an integrated line of geolocation equipment and solutions based on U.S. Wireless' Location Fingerprinting RadioCamera(TM) System and Allen Telecom's Geometrix(TM) Wireless Location System. U.S. Wireless will provide direction for overall systems integration, architecture and data maintenance and will develop Internet-based location services. Allen Telecom will be responsible for manufacturing, engineering, planning, installation, testing and product support. Both companies plan to cooperate and pool marketing and technology resources to offer the broadest set of cost-effective geolocation solutions to selected customers.
