True, but I also like to look at the industry as a whole.

Today's Wall Street Journal Page A3

The boxmaker industry is slowing down.

Percentage in change of PC revenue has gone down:

1995 up over 30 percent
1996 up 40 percent
1997 up around 6 percent
1998 up around 2 percent

Peak in demand is waning and the PC makers are estimating revenue increase of around 2 percent for 1999.

Unit sale growth is also slowing. Boxmakers optimistically looking at unit sales growth at maybe 13 percent for 1999 (growth for PC boxes was around 10 percent for 1998 down from 25 percent in 1995 and around 16 percent in 1997.
*************

I think Apple's best bet is to catch the upgrade cycle on PC boxmakers in 1999.

The article also pointed out that unsold inventories are sitting in warehouses for average of 40 days. Up from 34 days last year.
