Marc - I respect your posts enormously, so forgive me for doubting you here and asking for a third opinion!

Are you sure that "ASK" is the sale price? Isn't it the price the MM is willing to sell for, which in reality is our "buy" price? That would seem to make more sense, since when we transact at the market price we buy at the "ASK" and sell at the "BID". And that would make a higher ASK:BID ratio positive rather than the reverse.

Still confused.
