<<This is a real let down. IMO>>
Roger, I'm not sure I follow your logic here. McData, owned by EMC, has been a Brocade partner from the get go. So the let down here is that Ancor did not steal away another long term Brocade relationship? I can't view that as a real disappointment.
Now, give me a potential OEM where Ancor's new MK and the Brocade Silkworm are competing head on where neither company has a previous relationship with the potential, and I'd be disappointed if Ancor didn't win. That said, I expect even that to happen a fair amount: Ancor will NOT win 100% of the business, no matter how much we hope it does.
I agree it would be nice to see Ancor come out with a Tier One OEM announcement, but for now I have no reason to think the Ancor CEO was lying or trying to mislead when he said -- in public -- that he'd be disappointed not to get 1/3-1/2 of the OEMs available. Give them time. Sad to say, this is still the early part of the FC season, even though we were all around for spring training.
Finally, I mean no insult, but if you're disappointed that Ancor didn't land EMC simply because so many people on SI and YHOO boards theorized that it might happen, then you're in for many more disappointments over the next few years. If you had hard, concrete proof that such a relationship was likely, particularly given the McData/Brocade history, then I'd love to see it.
