Jim,

<<<Low said the Philips offer is less than one made by rival LSI Logic Corp. during preliminary acquisition talks last year. >>>

Now that is the first actual proof of the squashed LSI offer last year that I have seen. A direct statement from a member of the board. Turned down LSI 28 and now they are going to revisit virtually the exact same idea with a Philips bid of 17. Not good.

The 17 offer price will not be accepted in my opinion. If 28 was not good enough 17 will never fly. Question now is how are they going to say that they are protecting the shaerholders when this thing drops back below 15? Don't see how they can. On come the lawyers unfortunately.

How do you think the fact that this current offer is "out in the public" will change the decision making process of the BOD? Is it possible that it will change the outcome to reasonable counteroffer followed by acceptance?
