re: Sygate ping test

From the Sygate site they show these results from a ping to intel.com

Pinging www.cps.intel.com [192.102.198.160] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=190ms TTL=12
Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=208ms TTL=12
Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=185ms TTL=12
Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=228ms TTL=12

From my computer I get...

Pinging www.cps.intel.com [192.102.198.160] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=246ms TTL=9
Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=234ms TTL=9
Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=227ms TTL=9
Reply from 192.102.198.160: bytes=32 time=230ms TTL=9

My time= is alittle greater than the sygate ping...but I assume still ok. My question is what is TTL? Why is their TTL 12 and mine 9?
