I have a boat. I keep forgetting about it, but sometimes I look out the kitchen window and I see it, all wrapped up in a blue plastic tarp, sitting on its sawhorses, and I remember it. It's just a row boat, a scull, an Alden Ocean Shell. It doesn't have a name. I saw it tonight, the moon was full as far as I am concerned, anyway, although I know that everyone wanted it to be full in February so it could be a blue moon. I was looking out the kitchen window at the moon, and then I noticed my boat. When I bought it last year, I planned to row out on the Chesapeake, and go exploring. Alden Ocean Shells are broad and not terribly long, so they handle choppy water well. I haven't taken it out onto anything more challenging than the Occoquan. Maybe if I keep doing better, I will. |
